The short answer
Zety is a solid US resume builder. The trouble is pricing and market fit: you build for free, then pay to download. As of 2026 the trial is around $2.95 and renews at roughly $23.95/month — many users only notice when the second charge lands. And it's built for the US market: no NOC 2021, no LMIA context, no Canadian English toggle.
Jobeefy is the Canada-first alternative. The free account includes a PDF export with no card. NOC codes, Canadian spelling, and AI-assisted resume text feedback — the systems Canadian employers actually run.
Where Zety is strong
- Large template library and modern designs.
- Guided prompts for people who've never written a resume.
- AI phrasing suggestions inside the editor.
Where it falls short for Canadian job seekers
Paywalled download. The $2.95 trial → $23.95/mo pattern surprises a lot of users. If you only need one resume, you'll end up on a subscription cycle to get a clean file.
US-centric. Defaults to organize, color, center. No native NOC 2021 mapping. No awareness that Canadian resumes typically omit photos, DOB, and marital status — details that get international resumes screened out here.
Two-column templates. Beautiful in preview, brittle in ATS parsing. Workday and iCIMS regularly mangle two-column layouts. See 12 ATS fixes.
