What cookies are, in one paragraph
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device to remember who you are between requests (so you don't sign in again on every page), remember your preferences (like light or dark theme), and — with your consent — measure and personalize the ads shown on our free tier. Local-storage entries do the same job but live inside your browser rather than on disk. Jobeefy uses both, in three categories described below.
How our consent system works
Jobeefy uses Google Consent Mode v2. That means before any Google tag (AdSense, Google Analytics, or Tag Manager) loads on your device, the page reads the region you are visiting from and applies a safe default: visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland start in a denied state for advertising, ad-personalization, ad-user-data, and analytics storage. Visitors elsewhere start in the granted state but still see our banner so you can opt out at any time.
When you press Essential only, we call gtag('consent', 'update', …) with every optional signal set to denied. When you press Accept all, the same call sets them to granted. Your decision is stored under the key jobeefy.consent.v1 in your browser and replayed on your next visit so the banner does not reappear.
Strictly necessary
These keep the site working. Your authentication session, the CSRF token that protects form submissions, and the record of your consent choice itself all live here. They are always on because the app cannot function without them, and consent law recognises this category as exempt from opt-in.
Preferences
These remember small choices so the site feels consistent — your theme (light or dark), your last-used tool inputs so you can pick up where you left off, and the province you selected in the salary calculator. They contain no personal identifiers and are stored only in your browser.
Advertising (optional)
When you select "Accept all" in our consent banner, we may load Google AdSense on public pages so the free tier stays free. AdSense sets its own cookies to measure ad performance and, if you have not opted out with Google, to personalize the ads shown to you. You can decline this category and still use every free tool and read every guide.
If you accept, the specific advertising cookies you may encounter are listed in the inventory below. Ads stay off entirely until we receive AdSense approval — until then, none of the advertising cookies below are set.
Cookie inventory
The tables below list every cookie and local-storage entry Jobeefy or its providers may set on your device. First-party entries are set by jobeefy.app; third-party entries are set by the named provider under their own domain.
| Name | Party | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
sb-*-auth-token | First | Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in to the app. | Session / 1 hour rolling |
jobeefy.consent.v1 | First | Strictly necessary | Remembers your cookie choice so the banner does not reappear. | 12 months |
theme | First | Preferences | Remembers light / dark / system theme selection. | 12 months |
jobeefy.tool.* | First | Preferences | Remembers your last inputs to tools (e.g. selected province in the salary calculator). | 12 months |
_ga, _ga_* | Third (Google) | Analytics (optional) | Google Analytics 4 — measures traffic and page performance in aggregate. | Up to 24 months |
__gads, __gpi | Third (Google) | Advertising (optional) | Google AdSense — measures ad performance and frequency capping. Loaded only after AdSense approval and only if you accept advertising cookies. | Up to 13 months |
IDE, NID | Third (Google, doubleclick.net) | Advertising (optional) | Ad selection and, if you have not opted out with Google, personalization. | Up to 13 months |
Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control
Modern browsers can send a Do Not Track (DNT) header or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal on every request. Jobeefy treats an active GPC signal as an opt-out of advertising and analytics storage — equivalent to pressing Essential only in our banner. DNT has been deprecated by most browser vendors and is not a formal consent standard, but if your browser sends it we will not preselect "Accept all" on your behalf.
Changing your choice
You can withdraw or update your consent at any time. Clicking the button below clears your saved choice and re-opens the consent banner so you can pick again.
Pro & BYOK
Users on Pro or with their own Anthropic / OpenAI key in Settings never see ads, so no advertising cookies are loaded for them regardless of consent choice.
Third-party policies
If you accept advertising cookies, Google's use of them is governed by its advertising policies.
