How to pull the right keywords out of any job description

    TL;DR
    • Recruiters search the ATS using the exact keywords from the JD they wrote.
    • Pull the must-have skills, tools, and certifications — not the fluffy adjectives.
    • Mirror 60–80% of must-haves into your resume in real sentences. Don't keyword-stuff.
    • Hard skills carry more weight than soft skills. List the tools by name.
    • Re-extract for every application. The keywords change role by role.

    What this tool extracts

    • Must-haves — skills, tools, certifications listed as required.
    • Nice-to-haves — preferred or bonus skills.
    • Tools & platforms — software names you should mirror exactly.
    • Soft signals — keywords like "cross-functional", "ownership", "stakeholder".
    • NOC anchor — best-guess NOC code based on the JD.

How to apply the keywords without keyword-stuffing

    1. Find every must-have. Aim to mirror 80%.
    2. Put each one inside a real bullet, not in a "Skills" wall. Real context beats lists.
    3. Match the JD's exact wording. "Postgres" beats "PostgreSQL" if the JD says Postgres.
    4. Drop anything you can't honestly back up in an interview.

    Common mistakes to avoid

    • Pasting the keywords into a Skills block instead of weaving them into bullets.
    • Mirroring soft adjectives ('passionate', 'driven') — they don't rank.
    • Adding tools you've never used — kills you in the interview.
    • Using one extracted list across multiple applications — every JD is different.
