STAR-method sample answer
Question: Tell me about a file where you went over budget.
Situation. On a $40M manufacturer audit at Welch LLP, we were tracking 25% over budget at the halfway gate.
Task. Get the file back inside 5%, keep the partner informed, and not damage the client relationship.
Action. I rebuilt the time budget by area, reassigned WIP testing to a senior, ran a daily 15-minute standup with the team, and went back to the client with a tighter PBC list.
Result. We landed at 4% over original budget, the partner used my new PBC template across other manufacturing files, and the client renewed for the next year.
