    What Job Bank is

Job Bank (jobbank.gc.ca) is the official job board operated by the Government of Canada through ESDC. It aggregates postings from employers across the country and is the source recruiters must use when posting jobs tied to an LMIA. It also publishes wage data, NOC details, and labour-market trend reports.

    Why use it

    • Best place to find LMIA-supported postings.
    • Trustworthy — every employer is verified before posting.
    • Free wage data by NOC and province (very useful for negotiation).
    • Filters that match Canadian categories (NOC, TEER, language, employment type).

    Searching by NOC, TEER, location

The fastest way to use Job Bank is to search by NOC instead of by keyword. Find your NOC first using the NOC code finder, then on Job Bank:

    1. Enter your NOC code in the search bar (e.g., 21230 for Computer Systems Developers).
    2. Filter by province or city.
    3. Filter by TEER level if you want to broaden or narrow.
    4. Filter by "Foreign workers welcome" if you're targeting LMIA-supported employers.

    Reading wage data

Each NOC + region combination shows three wage data points: low, median, and high. When you negotiate or judge whether a posting is competitive, compare against the median for the region — not the national figure. See our NOC code guide for how to map your role correctly.

    Spotting LMIA postings

LMIA-friendly postings on Job Bank are usually marked with one of:

    • "This employer has applied for a Labour Market Impact Assessment."
    • A green flag icon labelled "Open to applicants from outside Canada."
    • A note in the posting body about the employer being able to support a work permit.

For more on what LMIA actually means and how to evaluate these postings responsibly, read LMIA-friendly jobs in Canada.

    Limitations of Job Bank

    • Coverage skews to TEER 3–5 roles in trades, hospitality, transport, and healthcare.
    • Tech and senior corporate roles are under-represented compared to LinkedIn.
    • Some postings are duplicates of postings on company sites — apply through the company when possible.

Pair Job Bank with our application tracking guide so you don't lose responses across boards.
